Here is the weekly review of the top performing Mexican players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced international guard
Jorge Gutierrez (191-88, college:
California, currently plays in Greece). He could not help
Peristeri GS (12-11) in their last game. Despite Gutierrez's very good performance Peristeri GS lost
79-90 at home to the higher-ranked (#3) Promitheas.
He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Gutierrez also added 4 passes in 34 minutes on the court.
This year Gutierrez averages: 8.4ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.4apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 42.1% and FT: 76.2% in 14 games he played so far.
Ex-Pioneros de Quintana Roo-Cancun player is currently a member of the Mexican senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international forward
Juan Toscano-Anderson (198-93, agency:
BeoBasket, college:
Marquette, currently plays in NBA). He contributed to a 3-point
Golden State Warriors' victory against the New Orleans Pelicans (31-41)
125-122 in the NBA last Friday.
Toscano-Anderson recorded 9 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.
The Golden State Warriors have 39-33 record this season.
It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row.
They will play only one more game in the NBA Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Toscano-Anderson's overall stats this season are: 5.8ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 71.4%(85-119), 3FGP: 40.2% and FT: 69.7%.
He is a naturalized American.
Toscano-Anderson is in the roster of the Mexican senior national team. He used to play for Fuerza Regia Monterrey in Mexican league.
#3. The Mexican player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard
Luke Martinez (190-90, agency:
Pro Sports, college:
Wyoming, currently plays in Brazil). He managed to help Clube de Regatas do Flamengo to win against the closely-ranked Paulistano (2-1)
69-58 in the Brazilian NBB in Saturday night's game.
Martinez scored only 2 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (4-0) is placed first in the NBB.
So far his team won all three games in the Semi-Finals.
Martinez's overall stats this season are: 9.2ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.1apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 58.3%(21-36), 3FGP: 40.8%.
He is a naturalized American.
Martinez is also a member of the Mexican senior national team. He used to play for Rayos de Hermosillo in Mexican league.
#4. Shooting guard
Jesus Gonzalez (196-86, currently plays in Colombia) contributed to
Sabios' victory against one of league's weakest teams Piratas (3-6)
85-76 in the Colombian LPB last Wednesday.
Gonzalez recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in 37 minutes.
Sabios de Manizales (4-5) is placed seventh in the LPB.
His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial.
This year Gonzalez's overall stats are: 8.7ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.2apg, 1.1bpg and 1.8spg in nine games.
He used to play for the Mexican national team
back in 2019.
#5. Former international forward
Joaquin Villanueva (208-86, currently plays in Colombia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jesus Gonzalez. But that was another game of his team in Colombian LPB which we would like to mention.
Villanueva was not able to help
Sabios in their game against Titanes (9-0).
He scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Sabios was crushed
88-65 on the road by the leading Titanes.
Villanueva's total stats this season are: 6.4ppg and 5.2rpg.
He has a dual citizenship: Spanish and Mexican.
Villanueva used to play for the Mexican national team
two years ago.
#6. Small forward
Yahir Bonilla (204-3, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 3-point
FC Barcelona 2's victory against the sixth-ranked CBA Gran Canaria 2nd team (13-12)
70-67 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Thursday night's game.
He scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 9 minutes.
FC Barcelona Lassa 2nd team (20-6) is placed first in East group.
It's Bonilla's first season with the team.
This year Bonilla's total stats are: 2.1ppg and 2.0rpg in 12 games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Mexican National Team roster.

Malvin to a 1-point victory against the league outsider Hebraica (2-9)
90-89 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB on Wednesday night.
Fuller scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes.
Malvin Montevideo (6-1) is placed first in the LUB.
It's Fuller's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Fuller averages: 15.6ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.6apg in 12 games he played so far.
