Astros de Jalisco (LNBP) added to their roster experienced 38-year old American-Nigerian ex-international 204cm power forward Ikechukwu Diogu, college: Arizona State. Diogu played last summer at Bameso in TBS league in Dominican Republic. In four games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.3ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.5apg. The last season he played at Chemidor in Iranian Superleague where in 10 games he averaged remarkable 17.9ppg, 9.7rpg and 2.0apg. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Iranian Superleague Honorable Mention.
In 2005 he was drafted by Golden State Warriors (NBA) in first round (9th overall). Diogu attended Arizona State and it will be his 18th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He also represented USA at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast (Australia) three years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: Score-2 (21.0ppg), Reb-2 (10.8rpg), 1.3apg, 1.0spg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 34.6%, FT: 86.4%.
Diogu is a very experienced player. Thanks to Diogu's pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in four different countries. He has played previously professionally in China (Guandong Tigers and Blue Whales), Japan (Shimane Susanoo Magic), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros, Leones and Capitanes) and NBA (LA Clippers, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers).
Among many awards his team won Puerto Rican BSN Regular Season in 2013 and 2018. Diogu was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Commonwealth Games 1st Team back in 2018.
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Astros.
