LNBPF Round 22: Racers are defeated by Lenadoras

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Racers (2-16) on the court of twelfth ranked Lenadoras on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Lenadoras 83-54. Lenadoras outrebounded Racers 41-26 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Nadia Gonzalez (178-2002) scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Kala Green (175-1996, college: NC A&T) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Lenadoras' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Ecuadorian point guard Leyda Macias (165-1983) responded with 11 points. Lenadoras maintains twelfth position with 5-15 record. Newly promoted Racers still keep top place with 16 games lost. Lenadoras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .

Monica Moguel notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Megan Garcia supported her with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by Argentinian center Johanna Puchetti (191-1987) did not help to save the game for Escaramuzas. Barreteras maintains eighth position with 8-12 record. Escaramuzas at the other side keep the fifth place with six games lost. Barreteras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Escaramuzas will play at home against Quetzales (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mayra Gil fired 33 points (!!!) and 4 steals (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners. Coach Jonathan Villegas's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Andrea Perez produced 20 points for lost side. Undefeated Mieleras have an impressive 20-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-0 record which they share with defeated Phoenix. Phoenix lost eighth consecutive game. They still keep top place with 12 games lost. Mieleras will meet Las Plebes (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Phoenix will play against Mexcaltecas (#9) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22: Las Plebes were destroyed by Quetzales on the opponent's court 102-78. Lobas unfortunately lost to Regias in a home game 69-73. Algodoneras were rolled over Teporacas on the road 34-88.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 10 rebounds by Mabel Martinez of Teporacas.

Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Phoenix's 20. Mieleras forced 31 Phoenix turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Phoenix's players. Quetzales - Las Plebes 102-78

Very expected game in Ciudad de Mexico where 11th ranked Las Plebes (5-13) were crushed by seventh ranked Quetzales (9-9) 102-78 on Sunday. Quetzales looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Las Plebes' players. American point guard Aniese Palmore (165-1994, college: UMW) fired 38 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners. Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-1987) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Palmore is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Quetzales players scored in double figures. Quetzales had such big advantage that coach Gerardo Sanchez felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Jessica Fairweather (178-1989, college: Queens, NY) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and her fellow American import forward Danielle Forrest-Higgins (178, college: Morgan St.) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Quetzales have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 9-9 record. Las Plebes lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Algodoneras. Quetzales will meet higher ranked Escaramuzas (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Las Plebes will play against the league's leader Mieleras (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Cuban Yamara Amargo (179-1985) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international Sandra Sanchez (175-1990) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Regias players scored in double figures. Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and Puerto Rican Andrea Medina (169-1992) added 9 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Lobas' coach Israel Zermeno rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Regias have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-1 record having five points less than leader Phoenix. Lobas lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. Regias will meet at home Atleticas (#6) in the next round. Lobas will play against Algodoneras in Comarca and hope to secure a win.

Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-1986) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Daniela Soto (177-1995) chipped in 24 points. Teporacas' coach Angel Gonzalez felt very confident using entire bench saving starting five for next games. Guard Oleyda De Leon (170-1997) produced 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Sujei Cera (173-1997) added 5 points respectively for lost side. Teporacas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-6 record having six points less than leader Phoenix. Algodoneras lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the tenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Las Plebes. Teporacas will meet league's leader Racers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
