Phoenix - Quetzales 65-74 The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Phoenix (3-17) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Quetzales (12-9) 74-65. Quetzales have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 12-9 record. Phoenix lost thirteenth consecutive game. They still keep top place with 17 games lost. Las Plebes - Barreteras 59-97 No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Barreteras (12-12) crushed on the road 11th ranked Las Plebes (5-19) 97-59 on Sunday. Barreteras dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Las Plebes' 26. The winners were led by American forward Alexis Johnson (183, college: Virginia Union) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and Monica Moguel supported her with 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Barreteras players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) by American forward Danielle Forrest-Higgins (178, college: Morgan St.) did not help to save the game for Las Plebes. The former international forward Sofia Moreno (185-1988) added 8 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Barreteras have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 12-12 record. Las Plebes lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Lenadoras. Escaramuzas forced 20 Mexcaltecas turnovers. The winners were led by Trinidad and Tobago forward Chervelle Cox (186-1992, college: Central St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Ecuadorian guard Doris Lasso (164-1993) supported her with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 25 points by Sofia Payan (167-2000) did not help to save the game for Mexcaltecas. The former international guard Romina Berumen (177-1987) added 10 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Mexcaltecas' coach Gerardo Guzman tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Escaramuzas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Atleticas. Mexcaltecas at the other side keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Host Racers unexpectedly were defeated by in Saltillo 70-83. Atleticas outrebounded Racers 45-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Paola Estrada (172-1993) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists and Dominican center Yamile Rodriguez (188-1994, college: ETSU) who added 21 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Atleticas players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ecuadorian point guard Leyda Macias (165-1983) responded with 19 points and 9 assists and Cuban Melissa Oleaga (-1998) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Atleticas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 14-10 record, which they share with Escaramuzas. Racers lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team still keep top place with 22 games lost. Second ranked Regias had an easy win 70-55. Regias forced 22 Teporacas turnovers. Strangely Teporacas outrebounded Regias 41-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Cuban Yamara Amargo (179-1985) who scored that evening 22 points and American guard Ashton Millender (173, college: DePaul) supported her with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Regias players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by American center Rachel Kehoe (196-1993, college: EMU, agency: Gamble Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Teporacas. The former international swingman Daniela Soto (177-1995) added 8 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Regias have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-1 record behind leader Phoenix. Teporacas at the other side keep the fourth place with eight games lost. The winners were led by point guard Claudia Mejia (164-1996) who scored that evening 15 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and power forward Vania Martinez (181-1996) supported her with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Kala Green (175-1996, college: NC A&T) did not help to save the game for Lenadoras. Her fellow American import forward Shamika Singleton (185-1989, college: Concordia, TX) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Lenadoras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Algodoneras maintains tenth position with 7-17 record. Lenadoras lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Las Plebes.
