Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Mexicans who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former University international forward
Mauricio Cheda (198-1990, college:
UTEP, currently plays in Spain). He led
Mataro Parc to a victory over the 12th-ranked Agora Portals (0-3)
70-61 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game.
Cheda was MVP of the game. He scored 13 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 27 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Mataro Parc this season.
His team is placed tenth in Group C-1.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Cheda has a dual citizenship: Mexican and Spanish.
He played for the Mexican university national team year ago.
#2. Second place goes to former international forward
Juan Toscano-Anderson (198-1993, college:
Marquette, currently plays in NBA). Toscano-Anderson could not help the
Los Angeles Lakers (0-2) to beat the Los Angeles Clippers (1-0).
He scored 8 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
The Los Angeles Lakers (0-2) were defeated
103-97 in a derby game by the Clippers.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
This year Toscano-Anderson averages: 4.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 66.7%, 3FGP: 14.3%.
He is a naturalized American.
Toscano-Anderson played for the Mexican national team in 22.
He used to play for Fuerza Regia Monterrey in Mexican league.
#3. The Mexican player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international guard
Francisco Cruz (191-1989, college:
Wyoming, currently plays in Turkey). Cruz was not able to help
Manisa (0-1) in their last game. Despite his good performance Manisa was crushed
90-69 on the road by the higher-ranked (#7) Tofas.
Cruz scored 11 points in 27 minutes.
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Cruz has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.7ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.0apg, 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 85.7% in three games he played so far.
Former Fuerza Guinda Nogales starter played for the Mexican national team year ago.
#4. Point guard
Alexander Perez-Kaufmann (191-1993, agency:
Pro Sports, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for
Konyaspor (2-1) in their game against Fenerbahce (3-0) in the Turkish BSL. Perez-Kaufmann's contribution was not very remarkable in Sunday's game.
He scored only 2 points and added 5 assists.
Konyaspor was defeated
85-71 in Istanbul by the higher-ranked Fenerbahce (#3).
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Perez-Kaufmann's overall stats this season are: 8.0ppg, 2.7rpg, 7.0apg and 1.7spg.
