The Chihuahua Dorados (LBE) have signed Eric Dawson, a 39-year-old American center who stands at 206cm tall. Dawson, who played college basketball at Midwestern State and is represented by Interperformances, is returning to the Dorados after previously playing for the team. He most recently played for Cariduros de Fajardo in the Puerto Rican BSN league. Dawson took a break from professional basketball for the past two seasons.
He attempted to reach the NBA and participated in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014.
He's a highly experienced player who has traveled extensively throughout his professional career. He has played in fourteen different countries across Asia, Latin America, and North America. Some of the teams he has played for include San Lorenzo and Comunicaciones in Argentina, Petrochimi in Iran, Dolphins in Japan, Egis in Korea, Olimpia in Paraguay, Blackwater in the Philippines, Yulon Luxgen in Taiwan, Defensor in Uruguay, and Mineros in Mexico. He has also had stints in the NBA with the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs, as well as in the NBA G League with the SLC Stars and Austin Spurs.
Among the many awards he has won, he clinched the Mexican LBE championship title in 2021. Additionally, he was voted as the Latinbasket.com All-Mexican LNBP 2020 Center of the Year in 2020. This season at Dorados may mark one of the last in his illustrious career.
It is worth mentioning that he also played at the Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him secure a job in professional basketball.
He graduated from Midwestern State University in 2007, and this upcoming season will mark his 17th season in professional basketball. In addition to Midwestern State, he also played for McLennan Community College.
