Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Los Mochis between third ranked Angeles (15-8) and eighth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (10-12) on Saturday night. Angeles were defeated by Pioneros Los Mochis on the road 90-80. Los Mochis made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Los Mochis made 7 blocks. American power forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Jordan Allen (193-1998, college: Lynn) chipped in 27 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard DaQuan Bracey (180-1997, college: La Tech) with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Pioneros Los Mochis have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Obregon and Guaymas. Angeles lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the third position with eight games lost. Los Mochis is looking forward to face league's second-placed Astros in Guadalajara in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Angeles will play on the road against Frayles in Guasave and are hoping to win this game.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Tijuana. First ranked host Tijuana Zonkeys (17-5) defeated 4th ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (13-9) 102-90. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) notched a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists to lead the effort and Joao Franca supported him with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach Enrique Zuniga used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 35 points (!!!) by American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) did not help to save the game for Hermosillo. Tijuana maintains first position with 17-5 record. Hermosillo at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Tijuana will play against bottom-ranked Culiacan (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hermosillo will play against Obregon (#6) in Ciudad Obregon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Culiacan maintains tenth position with 4-18 record. Frayles lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 18 games lost. Culiacan will meet league's leader Tijuana on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Frayles will play against Angeles (#3) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 18: Obregon lost to Mazatlan on the opponent's court 61-70. Guaymas were outscored by Astros in a home game 83-104. Angeles managed to beat Frayles on the road 105-102.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists by Johnny Hughes III of Angeles.



Mazatlan - Obregon 70-61

Everything could happen in Mazatlan at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Venados and 6th ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon had identical 10-11 record. This time Venados used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Ciudad Obregon 70-61 on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was American forward Terrence Thompson (203-1994, college: Wake Forest) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Brazilian power forward Ruan Miranda (205-2001) chipped in 20 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Venados players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Nigerian swingman Tanksley Efianayi (198-1994, college: UCF) who recorded 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward ShaMarkus Kennedy (203-1998, college: McNeese St.) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Venados have a solid three-game winning streak. Mazatlan maintains fifth position with 11-11 record. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Los Mochis and Guaymas. Mazatlan will meet Guaymas (#7) on the road in the next round. Obregon will play against Hermosillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result when second ranked Astros (16-6) smashed on the road 6th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (10-12) 104-83 on Saturday. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ostioneros de Guaymas' 36. They outrebounded Guaymas 37-21 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Astros shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Jerime Anderson (188-1989, college: UCLA) who scored 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Demitrius Conger (196-1990, college: St.Bonaventure) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Wesley Saunders (196-1993, college: Harvard) who recorded 15 points and 5 assists and forward Cullen Russo (206-1994, college: Fresno St.) added 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively.
