LNBPF Round 3 (Regular Season): Fuerza Regia keep a leadership position

Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Fuerza Regia smashed Panteras in Monterrey 69-50. Fuerza Regia made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for center Khaalia Hillsman (195-1996, college: Texas A&M) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points. Guard Rachel Howard (178-1995, college: USF) helped adding 15 points. Fuerza Regia's coach Carlos Alonso used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Taylor Wurtz (183-1990, college: Wisconsin) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Panteras will play next round against strong Halcones trying to get back on the winning streak. Fuerza Regia will try to continue on its current victory against Abejas in Leon.
Important game to mention about took place in Irapuato. Freseras (3-3) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Abejas (2-4) 76-73 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Haitian swingman Jessica Fequiere (180-1993, college: Albany) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Sierra Moore accounted for 13 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Freseras' coach Felipe Becerra allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American swingman Najiyyah Pack-Maddox (178-1998, college: NM State) came up with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for Abejas in the defeat. Freseras will play against Santas (#9) in Potosi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Abejas will play at home against Fuerza Regia and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Monterrey. host Fuerza Regia (5-1) defeated Panteras (3-3) 74-62. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was Rachel Howard who scored 22 points and 5 assists. Fuerza Regia's coach Carlos Alonso used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Rennia Davis who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds. Fuerza Regia will meet Abejas (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panteras will play against Halcones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 3: winless Santas were destroyed by Correcaminos on the opponent's court 87-68. Halcones managed to outperform Rojas in a home game 75-67. Winless Santas recorded a loss to Correcaminos on the road 74-64. Freseras defeated Abejas on its own court 80-66. Rojas were beaten by Halcones in Xalapa 77-59.

Correcaminos - Santas 87-68

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Santas' (0-4) road loss to Correcaminos (2-4) 68-87 on Thursday. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was power forward Sarah Boothe (195-1990, college: Stanford) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Shaiquel McGruder (183-1999, college: N.Mexico) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Aniya Thomas (170-2000, college: Missouri St.) added 18 points respectively. American-Hungarian guard Yvonne Turner (179-1987, college: Nebraska) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. Four Halcones players scored in double figures. Halcones looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Rojas' players. The best player for the winners was American-U.S. Virgin Islands swingman Imani Tate (175-1995, college: Albany) who scored 19 points and 4 assists. Montenegrin power forward Kristina Rakovic (186-1994) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds.
