LNBP Round 5 (Regular Season): Mineros defeat Dorados

There were just five rounds played in Regular Season of LNBP and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was the first loss of Dorados (3-1) in Chihuahua on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Mineros (2-2) 88-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dorados. Mineros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Dorados' players. American forward Adonis Thomas (197-1993, college: Memphis, agency: Slash Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. American-Italian Brandon Nazione (202-1994, college: EMU) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Mineros' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Swedish guard Elijah Clarance (194-1998, college: Illinois St.) answered with 36 points (!!!) for Dorados. Mineros moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Dorados at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia and Santos. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game for Fuerza Regia (3-1) which played in Cancun against 5th ranked El Calor (2-2). Seventh ranked Fuerza Regia upset home team edging them after exciting game by three points 84-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of El Calor. It was a key game for the second position in the league. American power forward Jerai Grant (203-1989, college: Clemson, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Daniel Bejarano chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. Argentinian point guard Luciano Guerra (184-1997) responded with 24 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Santos and Dorados. El Calor at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Correcaminos' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Lobos BUAP (1-3) 90-85 on Friday. Shavlik Randolph nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. Tyrone Lee came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Lobos BUAP in the defeat. Correcaminos maintains eleventh place with 1-3 record, which they share with Lobos BUAP and Soles. It was Lobos BUAP's third loss in a row. Correcaminos will again meet at home Lobos BUAP (#11) in the next round. Lobos BUAP will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 5 Halc.Rojos beat Soles on the road 98-92. Plateros won against Panteras on its own court 83-70.




Correcaminos - Lobos BUAP 90-85

Correcaminos' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Lobos BUAP (1-3) 90-85 on Friday. Correcaminos made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-1983, college: Duke) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import center Raymond Miller (204-1988, college: CS Fullerton, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 8 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. American Tyrone Lee (203-1990, college: GVSU) came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Karim Rodriguez (196-1988) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Lobos BUAP in the defeat. Four Correcaminos and five Lobos BUAP players scored in double figures. Correcaminos maintains eleventh place with 1-3 record, which they share with Lobos BUAP and Soles. It was Lobos BUAP's third loss in a row. Correcaminos will again meet at home Lobos BUAP (#11) in the next round. Lobos BUAP will have a break next round.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Halcones Rojos (1-1) beat 11th ranked Soles (1-3) in Mexicali 98-92 on Friday. Halc.Rojos made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Power forward Javion Ogunyemi (206-1995, college: Siena) nailed 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side and forward Kenneth Horton (201-1989, college: CCSU, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 16 points and 4 assists. Halcones Rojos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Erik McCree (202-1993, college: La Tech) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Donovan Jackson (188-1996, college: Iowa St.) added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for Soles in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos left bottom position moving up to tenth place. Loser Soles keep the eleventh position with three games lost. Very expected game when 6th ranked Panteras (2-2) lost to leader Plateros (4-0) in Fresnillo 70-83 on Friday. Plateros outrebounded Panteras 46-31 including 36 on the defensive glass. Plateros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Center Deion McClenton (208, college: Keiser) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and guard Tyrone White (201-1990, college: CSUB) accounted for 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Josh Perkins (191-1995, college: Gonzaga, agency: Slash Sports) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Justin Bibbs (196-1996, college: Virginia Tech) added 10 points respectively for Panteras in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Panteras' coach Manolo Cintron rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Plateros have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Loser Panteras keep the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.
