LNBP Round 6 (Regular Season): Diablos hand first loss to Santos

There were just 6 rounds played in Regular Season of LNBP and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Santos (3-1) on the court of tenth ranked Diablos on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Diablos 82-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Santos. It was a good game for the former international center Joshua Ibarra (211-1995, college: HCU) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Argentinian guard Luciano Gonzalez (194-1990) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Diablos' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Kevin Allen (211-1994, college: Emporia St., agency: BIG) replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds for Santos. Diablos (2-2) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Santos at the other side keep the second position with one game lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia and Dorados. Diablos is looking forward to face El Calor (#6) in Cancun in the next round. Santos will play at home against Halc.Xalapa (#14) and are hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Fresnillo. Top-ranked Plateros (4-0) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Panteras (2-2) 83-81 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. American guard Tyrone White (201-1990, college: CSUB) scored 25 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Kwame Alexander chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Plateros' coach Facundo Murias allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Josh Perkins (191-1995, college: Gonzaga, agency: Slash Sports) with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Plateros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Panteras at the other side keep the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Plateros will play against Lobos BUAP (#11) in Puebla in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panteras will play at home against Freseras (#16) and hope to get back on the winning track.

They maintain second position with 3-1 record behind leader Plateros, which they share with Fuerza Regia and Dorados. Loser Diablos dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Santos will meet at home Halc.Xalapa (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Diablos will play against El Calor (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 6 bottom-ranked Lobos BUAP smashed Correcaminos on the road 97-78.



Correcaminos - Lobos BUAP 78-97

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Lobos BUAP (1-3) crushed higher ranked Correcaminos (1-3) in Ciudad Victoria 97-78 on Saturday. Lobos BUAP dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 40. Lobos BUAP forced 19 Correcaminos turnovers. Puerto Rican guard Isaiah Palermo (196-2000, college: UALR) notched 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Jordan Goldwire (188-1999, college: Oklahoma, agency: BMS Sport Agency) supported him with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Lobos BUAP players scored in double figures. Lobos BUAP's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 27 points by swingman Manuel Hernandez (193-1991) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. American point guard Taishaun Johnson (183-1994, college: PVAMU) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Lobos BUAP left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Correcaminos and Soles. Lobos BUAP will meet at home league's leader Plateros in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Correcaminos will have a break next round.
