Hughes III number one in Mexican LNBP for round 13

American Forward Johnny Hughes III (201-F-1997) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Santos de San Luis Potosi, receiving a Hoops Agents LNBP Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat El Calor (5-5) 98-83. Santos is placed at 7th position in Mexican LNBP. Santos is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-5 record. Hughes III turned to be Santos' top player in his first season with the team. Johnny Hughes III averages this season 12.4ppg and 5.3rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Nigerian Ikechukwu Diogu (204-F/C-1983) of Halcones Rojos de Veracruz. Diogu had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds. It was enough for Halcones Rojos to edge slightly lower-ranked Correcaminos (#15, 2-8) 88-86. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Halc.Rojos managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 14th place. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Halcones Rojos managed to get this year. Diogu is a newcomer at Halc.Rojos, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Erik Thomas (195-PF-1995) of Soles de Mexicali (#11). Thomas showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Soles, leading his team to a 88-71 easy win against Abejas (#16, 0-8). The chances of Soles ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Thomas could help Soles to bring them higher in the standings. Thomas has a very solid season. In 2 games in Mexico he scored 18.0ppg.
