Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jaron Martin (178-1995, college: UC Irvine) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Puerto Rican David Huertas (196-1987, college: Ole Miss) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Panteras' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-1993, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for Dorados. Panteras (18-12) moved-up to fifth place. Dorados at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Soles and Plateros. Panteras are looking forward to face Correcaminos (#14) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dorados will play at home against Lobos BUAP (#16) and are hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Diablos (20-10) against tenth ranked Halcones Rojos (15-15) on Saturday night. Host Diablos were defeated by Halcones Rojos in a tough game at home 95-100. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Diablos. American players dominated the game. Guard Deshawndre Washington (201, college: NM State) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Davon Jefferson chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side J.J. Avila (203-1991, college: Colorado St.) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Diablos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Halc.Rojos moved-up to ninth place, which they share with El Calor. Diablos at the other side keep the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Halc.Xalapa. Halc.Rojos will play against higher ranked Halc.Xalapa (#4) in Xalapa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diablos will play at home against the league's second-placed Astros having rather not much hope for a victory.
An interesting game for Fuerza Regia (23-7) which played road game in Xalapa against 3rd placed Halcones UV Xalapa (20-10). First ranked Fuerza Regia managed to get a 5-point victory 81-76. Jalen Adaway nailed 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Fuerza Regia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Thad McFadden came up with 27 points and 5 assists for Halc.Xalapa in the defeat. Defending champion maintains first place with 23-7 record. Loser Halcones UV Xalapa keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Diablos. Fuerza Regia will meet Soles (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Halc.Xalapa will play against Halc.Rojos (#10) and hope to secure a win.
