Washington number one in Mexican LNBP for round 38

American Guard Deshawndre Washington (201-G) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Halcones Rojos de Veracruz, receiving a Hoops Agents LNBP Player of the Week award for round 38.
The player was the main contributor (20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Halc.Xalapa (#4, 21-11) 75-67. Halcones Rojos maintains the 10th position in Mexican LNBP. Halc.Rojos is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 16-16 record. Washington turned to be Halcones Rojos' top player in his first season with the team. Former New Mexico State University star has very solid stats this year. Washington is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.8ppg. Washington is in league's top in assists (5th best: 4.3apg).

The second best player in last round's games was young American Torren Jones (206-F/C-1994) of Abejas de Leon. Jones had a very good evening with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Abejas was edged by the higher-ranked Santos (#11, 14-18) 84-83. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Abejas managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 14th place. 24 lost games are too many comparing to just eight victories Abejas managed to get this year. Jones is a newcomer at Abejas, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.3ppg (#7). He also registered 9.4 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Julian Gamble (208-C-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) of Lobos Plateados de la BUAP (#16). Gamble scored 26 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Gamble's great performance the Lobos BUAP lost 80-111 to the higher-ranked Dorados (#6, 19-13). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Lobos BUAP can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 7-25 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Gamble has individually a great season in Mexico. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.3rpg (4th best).
