Aldama number one in Mexico LMBPF for round 1

Power forward Zaira Aldama (178-F/C-1998) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Dragonas, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Penguins (#9, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 60-49. It allowed Dragonas to consolidate first place in the Mexican LMBPF. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Dragonas won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Aldama just recently signed at Dragonas and just after two games she already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Zaira Aldama has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (4th best: 16.0ppg).

The second best player in last round's games was another Dragonas' star - Paola Velazquez. Velazquez had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Dragonas to edge Penguins (0-2) 62-58. Her team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Velazquez is one of the most experienced players at Dragonas and similarly like Zaira Aldama has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#3). Her other stats are also decent: 10.0rpg and 4.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Destiny Pitts (178-G-1999) of league's second-best Mieleras de Guanajuato. Pitts showcased her all-around game by recording 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. She was a key player of Mieleras, leading her team to a 72-61 win against Libelulas (#8, 0-2). Mieleras has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Pitts also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Pitts has a great season in Mexico. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 8.0rpg (7th best) and assists with 4.5apg (5th best).
