LNBPF Round 4 (Regular Season): El Calor is defeated by Freseras

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most important game in the last round took place in Irapuato between third ranked El Calor (2-2) and fifth ranked Freseras (2-2) on Tuesday night. El Calor was defeated by Freseras in a tough game on the road 93-97. Freseras made 29-of-31 free shots (93.5 percent) during the game, while El Calor only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of center Jaquaya Miller (190, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and guard Destiny Pitts (178-1999, college: Texas A&M) who added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side swingman Iimar'I Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) responded with 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 16-of-17 shooting from the field). El Calor's coach Juan Jose Pidal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Freseras moved-up to third place, which they share with Panteras and El Calor. Freseras is looking forward to face Abejas (#6) in Leon in the next round. El Calor will play at home against the league's leader Adelitas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Leon was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Rojas (3-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Abejas (1-3). Rojas managed to secure a 9-point victory 82-73. The winners were led by American center Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-1994, college: Pittsburgh) who scored that evening 26 points and 7 rebounds and Angela Tompkins supported her with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 10 assists by American swingman Sara Dickey (177-1995, college: Evansville) did not help to save the game for Abejas. Rojas maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Adelitas. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Fuerza Regia and Correcaminos. Rojas will play against Panteras (#4) in Aguascalientes in the next round. Abejas will play on the road against Freseras in Irapuato and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Panteras' coach Jose Antonio Santaella felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Asia Durr produced 19 points for lost side. Panteras moved-up to third place, which they share with Freseras and El Calor. Correcaminos at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia and Abejas. Panteras will meet league's second-placed Rojas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Correcaminos will play against Fuerza Regia (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Panteras - Correcaminos 106-75

Fourth ranked Panteras (2-2) crushed at home 7th ranked Correcaminos (1-3) by 31 points 106-75, which is the biggest margin this round on Tuesday night. Panteras dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 28. They outrebounded Correcaminos 59-30 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Correcaminos' players. Mali center Mariam Coulibaly (192-1997) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American guard Feyonda Fitzgerald (170-1995, college: Temple) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 assists. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach Jose Antonio Santaella felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The winners were led by American center Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-1994, college: Pittsburgh) who scored that evening 26 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Angela Tompkins (188-1991, college: Wichita St.) supported her with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Rojas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 10 assists by American swingman Sara Dickey (177-1995, college: Evansville) did not help to save the game for Abejas. American-Nigerian center Rita Igbokwe (193-2001, college: Ole Miss) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Rojas maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Adelitas.
