Diablos smashed El Calor at home 105-82. Diablos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to El Calor's 30 and made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Dontrell Brite (175-1994, college: Mount Olive) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 5 assists. The other American import guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Jorge Camacho (203-1989, college: EKU) replied with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for El Calor. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Chihuahua. Dorados saved a 2-point victory at home edging Santos 87-85 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. American Tyren Johnson (202-1988, college: Louisiana) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Elijah Clarance chipped in 16 points and 6 assists during the contest. American Terrance Ferguson (198-1997) responded with 19 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dorados will play against Gambusinos in the next round where they are favorite. Santos will play against Halc.Xalapa in Xalapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last two games of round 2 Fuerza Regia smashed Correcaminos on the road 98-78. Diablos won against El Calor on its own court 95-86.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 17 points and 12 rebounds by Malik Toppin of El Calor.
