Ninth-ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (6-10) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Fuerza Regia (11-5) on Saturday. The visitors from Monterrey managed to secure only one-point victory 97-96. However their fans expected much easier game. Fuerza Regia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American Shannon Shorter (193-1989, college: N.Texas) fired 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Kosovan-American Scott Bamforth (188-1989, college: Weber St.) chipped in 17 points. Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-1990) produced 18 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fuerza Regia maintains fifth position with 11-5 record. Halc.Xalapa at the other side keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with El Calor. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Halc.Xalapa will play on the road against El Calor (#9) in Cancun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Taylor Johnson (193-1994, college: Dartmouth) who helped to win the game recording 26 points. Damien Daniels contributed with 21 points for the winners. Guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for El Calor. El Calor's coach Juan Jose Pidal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Correcaminos moved-up to eleventh place. El Calor at the other side keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Halc.Xalapa. Correcaminos will play against Freseros (#13) in Irapuato in the next round. El Calor will play at home against Halc.Xalapa (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was no surprise in Guadalajara where 6th ranked Dorados (9-7) were defeated by fourth ranked Astros (12-2) 81-76 on Saturday. Astros made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Armani Chaney (178-1997, college: Tennessee St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 assists and center Devonte Upson (206-1993, college: SE Louisiana, agency: JCK Sports Group) who added 11 points during the contest. Chaney is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Astros players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Charles Mitchell (203-1993, college: Georgia Tech) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Tyren Johnson (202-1988, college: Louisiana) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Astros moved-up to second place. Loser Dorados keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Astros will meet bottom-ranked Santos (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Dorados will have a break next round.
