Diablos outrebounded Astros 43-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Diablos made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Daishon Smith (185-1995, college: ULM) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Diablos players scored in double figures. Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza (191-1992) answered with 20 points and international guard Karim Rodriguez (196-1988) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Astros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
