Whittington number one in Mexico CIBACOPA for round 1

American Power forward Greg Whittington (205-PF-1993) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 32-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Los Mochis (#10, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 96-87. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon is placed at 2nd position in Mexican CIBACOPA. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Obregon won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Whittington had a remarkable 63.2% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Halcones de Ciudad Obregon and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Former Georgetown University star has very solid stats this year. Whittington is in league's top in points (3rd best: 24.0ppg) and averages impressive 61.5% FGP and 75.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was American Octavio Octavio (193-G) of Frayles de Guasave. Octavio had a very good evening with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course Frayles de Guasave cruised to a 98-86 relatively comfortable win over Hermosillo (1-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Octavio is one of the most experienced players at Frayles and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#2). He also recorded 5.0 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Jordan Glynn (200-F-1989) of Toros Laguna (#3). Glynn scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He was a key player of Toros, leading his team to a 102-79 easy win against Mazatlan (#11, 0-2). Toros has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Glynn also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Glynn has a great season in Mexico. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.0ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 9.5rpg (4th best).
