Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Eleventh-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (3-9) made lots of trouble for first ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (9-3) on Wednesday. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon managed to secure only two-point victory 103-101. However their fans expected much easier game. Obregon looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Culiacan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Guard Josh Perkins (191-1995, college: Gonzaga, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 17 points and 13 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Roddy Peters (193-1995, college: Nicholls) who recorded 18 points and 9 assists. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-3 record. Culiacan at the other side stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Obregon are looking forward to face Hermosillo (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Culiacan will play against Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Frayles de Guasave (7-5) against sixth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (6-6) on Tuesday night. Visiting Frayles de Guasave was crushed by Pioneros Los Mochis in Los Mochis 100-79. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a good game for center Arnett Moultrie (208-1990, college: MSU) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Vince Edwards contributed with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Melik Martin (198-1999, college: Drexel) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds for Frayles. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Los Mochis maintains sixth place with 6-6 record. Frayles at the other side keep the second position with five games lost. They share it with Tijuana. Los Mochis will play against Angeles (#7) in Ciudad de Mexico in the next round. Frayles will play on the road against Toros (#5) in Nuevo Laredo and hope to get back on the winning track.

Loser Frayles de Guasave keep the second position with five games lost. They share it with Tijuana. Los Mochis will meet Angeles (#7) in the next round. Frayles will play against Toros (#5) in Nuevo Laredo and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 9 bottom-ranked Culiacan was crushed by Obregon in Ciudad Obregon 108-82.
The best stats of 9th round was 20 points and 7 rebounds by Rashad Smith of Los Mochis.




Obregon - Culiacan 108-82

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (3-9) was crushed on the road by first ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (9-3) 108-82 on Tuesday. Obregon shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Josh Perkins (191-1995, college: Gonzaga, agency: Slash Sports) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 assists for the winners and guard Jaden House (193, college: URI) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach Manuel Gelpi felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Roddy Peters (193-1995, college: Nicholls) scored 17 points and 6 assists. Five Obregon and four Culiacan players scored in double figures. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-3 record. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Obregon will meet Hermosillo (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Culiacan will play against Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
