Astros de Jalisco Win Game 5 to Capture a Fourth CIBACOPA Crown

The Astros de Jalisco capped a historic campaign by winning the 2026 CIBACOPA title, beating the Frayles de Guasave 76-61 in Game 5 of the Final to seal the championship on the road.
The crown is the Astros' fourth in the last five years, a run that pulls them level with Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregon each with four league titles as the most successful franchises in the competition's history. American guard Trey Burke (183-PG-1992, college: Michigan) was named Finals MVP, his experience guiding the Jalisco side to the title.
The Astros set the tone from the opening tip, imposing a physical style while the Frayles struggled to score through the first two quarters. It was not the visitors' sharpest first half of the postseason, but they still carried a comfortable 37-27 lead into the break. From there they never let Guasave mount a comeback, controlling the second half in front of a supportive home crowd to close out the game and the series.
Jaron Martin (178-PG-1995, college: UC Irvine) led the Astros' attack with 17 points, with Christopher Matthew Perry (190-PG) adding 13. For the Frayles, Sa'eed Nelson (188-PG-1998, college: American) top-scored with 16 and Octavio Brito chipped in 14, but it was not enough to extend the series.
