Leones - Jass 79-66 The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Leones' (6-7) home victory over bottom-ranked Jass (3-10) in Managua 79-66. They outrebounded Jass 48-37 including 33 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of international Vansdell Thomas (185-86) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists and Dominican forward Xavier de-la-Rosa (-91) who added 19 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Warren Plowden (183, college: Our Lady Lake) with 30 points and 6 rebounds and South African forward Pieter Prinsloo (208-92, college: Marist) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones maintains fifth position with 6-7 record. Jass lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Leones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Jass will play against Toros (#3) and hope to get back on the winning track. Fifth defeat of league's leader Jinotega (8-5) against fourth ranked Costa Caribe (6-6) 93-72 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Jinotega. Costa Caribe forced 23 Jinotega turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American Timothy Jackson (198-93) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import center Kevin Briggs (213, college: ASA Miami) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Costa Caribe players scored in double figures. American center Kevin Allen (211, college: Emporia St., agency: Haylett Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds and American-Panamanian Adalberto Rojas (200-86) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Jinotega. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Costa Caribe have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 6-6 record. Jinotega at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Real Esteli who have the same record. Jinotega will play next round against league's leader Real Esteli trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Costa Caribe will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Toros on the road.
