Indigenas - Boaco 102-63 The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Indigenas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Indigenas smashed 14th ranked Boaco in Matagalpa 102-63. Indigenas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Boaco's 28. Indigenas forced 24 Boaco turnovers and outrebounded them 55-35 including a 40-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Boaco's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Rudy Taylor (198-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and Raul Mendoza (190-87) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Indigenas players scored in double figures. At the losing side Randall Hulse responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and Elder Allen produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Indigenas (12-0) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Boaco lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with ten games lost. Boaco will play next round against Carazo trying to get back on the winning streak. Indigenas will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Tipitapa on the road. Carazo held Masatepe to an opponent 21.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Masatepe 55-36 including a 45-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for point guard Roger Icavalceta who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Jose Toledo-Espinoza contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Carazo players scored in double figures. Carazo's coach Yader Martinez felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Salvadorean guard Moises Rivas replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and Erlo Trana added 4 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Masatepe. Carazo moved-up to tenth place. Masatepe lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 14 games lost. Carazo's next round opponent will be Boaco (#14). San Isidro dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to El Rama's 30. It was a very good performance for the former international center Roger Munoz (208-84, college: Trinity Valley) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Carlos Gonzalez (177-80) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Satoshi Williams replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks and guard Greivin Vargas added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for El Rama. San Isidro moved-up to second place, which they share with Jinotega. El Rama at the other side keeps the seventeenth position with 11 games lost. Costa Caribe was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by center Troy Humphreys who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds and Franklin Omier (191-93) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds by the former international point guard Vansdell Thomas (185-86) did not help to save the game for Costa Caribe. Jinotega have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with San Isidro. Costa Caribe at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Leones. Jinotega will play against Juigalpa (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Costa Caribe will play against El Rama (#18) and hopes to get back on the winning track. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nicaragua U16. Rivas forced 21 Nicaragua U16 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Lenin Ruiz-Mendoza fired 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Center Luis Ibarra-Urbina chipped in 8 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Keriel Davila produced 21 points and 7 rebounds and Erick Laguna-Mairena added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Rivas moved-up to sixteenth place. Loser Nicaragua U16 dropped to the seventeenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with El Rama. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Juigalpa. Real Esteli held Juigalpa to an opponent 21.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Real Esteli forced 28 Juigalpa turnovers and outrebounded them 52-37 including 36 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Juigalpa's players. It was a very good performance for point guard Sharlon Hodgson (183-94) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international point guard Dalton Cacho (190-93) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Real Esteli players scored in double figures. Guard Roger Arana replied with 5 points and 8 rebounds and guard Henry Rocha added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Juigalpa. Real Esteli maintains sixth position with 11-5 record. Juigalpa at the other side dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Real Esteli will have a break next round. Juigalpa will play against Jinotega (#3) and hope to win that game.
