Indigenas - Chinandega 133-83 Very expected game in Matagalpa where 12th ranked Chinandega (6-10) was crushed by fifth ranked Indigenas (13-2) 133-83. Indigenas dominated down low during the game scoring 90 of its points in the paint compared to Chinandega's 48. Indigenas forced 21 Chinandega turnovers and outrebounded them 54-33 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Kevin Andino who led the winners and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 steals. The former international power forward Rudy Taylor (198-83) accounted for 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Five Indigenas players scored in double figures. Indigenas' coach Jjimmy Smith felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Ricardo Vega-Zamora came up with 26 points and center Frank Soto-Arguello added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Chinandega in the defeat. Indigenas moved-up to fourth place. Chinandega lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Indigenas will play against Leon (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chinandega will play against Real Esteli and hopes to get back on the winning track. They outrebounded Carazo 40-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. Carazo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Carlos Gil who led the winners and scored 23 points and 4 steals. Swingman Runnel Baez accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Juigalpa players scored in double figures. Power forward Jose Toledo-Espinoza came up with 8 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Norlan Araya added 12 points respectively for Carazo in the defeat. Carazo's coach Yader Martinez gave up on the game allowing to play thirteen players seeing no chance for a win. Juigalpa moved-up to ninth place. Carazo at the other side dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Juigalpa will play against higher ranked Costa Caribe (#3) in Managua in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Carazo will play at home against the league's second-placed Jinotega (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leones. San Isidro forced 22 Leones turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for point guard Francisco Garth (-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. The former international center Roger Munoz (208-84, college: Trinity Valley) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side Alfredo Borge (188-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and Manuel Mackenzie (192-80) scored 19 points. Leones' coach Luis Morales rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San Isidro have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-1 record. Leones at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. San Isidro are looking forward to face Nicaragua U16 (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Leones will play against Nandaime (#15) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win. Jinotega forced 28 Nicaragua U16 turnovers and outrebounded them 45-27 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nicaragua U16 was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a quality performance for center Troy Humphreys who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Harold Barberena (179-82) who led the winners and scored 26 points. Puerto Rican-Mexican center Roberto Rocha (210-86) accounted for 10 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. Four Tipitapa players scored in double figures. Jareth Chavez-Dinarte came up with 12 points and guard Jason Cortez added 9 points respectively for Nandaime in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tipitapa. They maintain seventh place with 11-6 record. Nandaime lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Rivas. Tipitapa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nandaime will play against Leones (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
