Real Esteli - Jinotega 88-90 The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Real Esteli (13-3) at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Jinotega (10-7) 90-88. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Real Esteli. Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. American center Dominic Woodson (211-95, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Jinotega players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican guard Jared Ruiz (188-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Real Esteli. Real Esteli's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jinotega moved-up to third place. Real Esteli at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Jinotega are looking forward to face Indigenas (#6) in Matagalpa in the next round. Real Esteli will have a break next round. This time they won against seventh-ranked Rivas 70-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rivas. Chinandega dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Rivas' 28. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Chinandega brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. American players dominated the game. Marcus Faison (196-94, college: Salem St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in 10 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Quentin Davis (199, college: Mendocino CC) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and guard B.J. Glasford (193-95, college: Stetson, agency: Green Sports Management) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chinandega maintains ninth place with 3-14 record. Rivas at the other side keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Chinandega will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rivas will play against Bufalos (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
