Real Esteli (Torneo Carlos Ulloa) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 36-year old Puerto Rican-American ex-international shooting guard Javier Mojica (190cm-82kg-84, college: CCSU) for season 2021. He played last summer at Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 22 games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.0apg and 2.0spg (in top 3). Mojica helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN 1st Team and All-Defensive Team.
The most of last season he spent at Fuerza Regia in Mexican LNBP where in 35 games he averaged 12.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.7apg and 1.1spg. Mojica contributed to his team making it to the final. Great season indeed as he was voted to Mexican LNPB All-Star Game. He also played for Lenadores in Mexican LNBP. In 13 games he had also remarkable stats: 19.7ppg, 5.2rpg, 4.8apg and 2.0spg. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Mexican LNPB All-Star Game.
He represented Puerto Rico at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla (Colombia) three years ago. Mojica's team won Gold and his stats at that event were 4 games: 9.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 52.9%, 3PT: 26.1%.
Mojica is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America) in eight different countries. Mojica has played previously professionally in Argentina (Quimsa), Belgium (Oostende), Poland (AZS Koszalin), Romania, Uruguay (Defensor), Venezuela, Puerto Rico (Cangrejeros and Piratas) and Mexico (Panteras and Jefes).
Among many awards Mojica received Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Defensive Player of the Year award back in 2018.
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Real Esteli.
Mojica attended Central Connecticut State University until 2007 and it will be his 15th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
The scouts decsribe him following way: An athletic SG who konws how to score, but is undersized for the position. Very good 3pts shooter, at the defensive side he is very active, compensating his lack of size with quickness of feet and arms.
