LSB Round 9: Cacique D. edge Real Esteli by one point

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LSB took place in Esteli. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Real Esteli (4-2) to seventh ranked Cacique D. (4-2) 92-91 in the game for the second place. Strangely Real Esteli outrebounded Cacique D. 49-34 including 36 on the offensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Real Esteli helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Jeremy Agosto who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-91) chipped in 27 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Glen Rice Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cacique D. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Real Esteli. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Bottom-ranked Indigenas (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 104-99 loss to seventh ranked Ingenieria (3-2) in Matagalpa. It was a good game for Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-87) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. Rudy Taylor contributed with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rican point guard Christian Lopez (183-95) answered with a double-double by scoring 50 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals (went 17 for 17 at the free throw line !!!) for Indigenas. Ingenieria moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Indigenas at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Tigres. Ingenieria will play against Rivas (#6) in the next round. Indigenas will play against Tigres and hope to get finally their first victory.



Indigenas - Ingenieria 99-104

Bottom-ranked Indigenas (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 104-99 loss to seventh ranked Ingenieria (3-2) in Matagalpa. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 38. The former international center Rudy Taylor (198-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ingenieria moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Indigenas at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Tigres. Ingenieria will play against Rivas (#6) in the next round. Indigenas will play against Tigres and hope to get finally their first victory.
