LSB Round 14: Ingenieria is defeated by Leon

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LSB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in between third ranked Ingenieria (5-4) and sixth ranked Leon (4-5) on Friday night. Ingenieria was defeated by Leon at home 99-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ingenieria. They outrebounded Ingenieria 48-34 including 31 on the offensive glass. Cuban Yuniskel Molina (183-93) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-87) responded with 25 points and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leon maintains sixth position with 4-5 record, which they share with Rivas. Ingenieria at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Leon is looking forward to face Indigenas (#8) in Matagalpa in the next round. Ingenieria will have a break next round.

American forward Justin Miller (198-96, college: Detroit) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and Timothy Simmons supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Even 27 points by Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-87) did not help to save the game for Ingenieria. Brumas have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cacique D. Ingenieria at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Brumas will play against bottom-ranked Tigres (#9) in Chinandega in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ingenieria will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Tigres (0-9) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to seventh ranked Rivas (4-5) 93-87 on Thursday evening. The best player for the winners was Jabari Price-Martin who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. Quincy Scates produced 32 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rivas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Leon. Loser Tigres still closes the standings with nine games lost. Rivas will meet at home higher ranked Real Esteli (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tigres will play against the league's second-placed Brumas (#2) in Jinotega and hope to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 14 Real Esteli won against Indigenas on the opponent's court 104-93.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 28 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals by Jason Valdez of Real Esteli.



Brumas - Ingenieria 89-83

Very expected game in Matagalpa where 8th ranked Indigenas (2-7) were defeated by third ranked Real Esteli (7-3) 104-93 on Friday. Real Esteli forced 20 Indigenas turnovers and outrebounded them 55-36 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Real Esteli made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Jason Valdez who scored 28 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Cuban Lisvan Valdez (196-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican center Teodoro Romero produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Christian Lopez (183-95) added 26 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Esteli have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-3 record having just one point less than leader Cacique D. Loser Indigenas keep the eighth place with seven games lost. Real Esteli will meet Rivas (#7) in the next round. Indigenas will play against Leon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
