LSB Round 23: Real Esteli lose to Ingenieria

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Top ranked Real Esteli (12-5) recorded its fifth loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Ingenieria (10-7) 88-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Real Esteli. They outrebounded Real Esteli 43-28 including 31 on the offensive glass. Ingenieria looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Ronald Lawton who scored 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Rudy Taylor (198-83) chipped in 23 points and 14 rebounds. The former international guard Vansdell Thomas (185-86) produced 40 points (!!!) for the hosts. Real Esteli's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ingenieria maintains fourth place with 10-7 record. Real Esteli at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost.
Another exciting game was between seventh ranked Leon and 4th placed Ingenieria where host Leon (8-8) won against Ingenieria (10-7) 95-88. Cuban Yuniskel Molina (183-93) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 15 assists. Oreste Torres contributed with 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-87) answered with 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for Ingenieria. Leon maintains seventh place with 8-8 record. Ingenieria at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost.
Leader Real Esteli delivered the twelfth victory on Thursday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked Indigenas (2-13) 79-52. It was a great evening for Lisvan Valdez who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. James Edmond Jr responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Esteli have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-5 record. Indigenas lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost.

In the last two games of round 23 bottom-ranked Tigres was crushed by Rivas in a road game 99-79. Cacique D. beat Leones MGA at home 79-71.



Leon - Ingenieria 95-88

Another exciting game was between seventh ranked Leon and 4th placed Ingenieria where host Leon (8-8) won against Ingenieria (10-7) 95-88. Leon players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Cuban Yuniskel Molina (183-93) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 15 assists. Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) contributed with 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-87) answered with 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and forward Ronald Lawton added 14 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Ingenieria. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leon maintains seventh place with 8-8 record. Ingenieria at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost.

Rivas - Tigres 99-79

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Tigres (2-15) were crushed on the road by sixth ranked Rivas (9-8) 99-79 on Wednesday. Rivas dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 40. They outrebounded Tigres 53-29 including a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rivas looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a great evening for American Quentin Davis (199, college: Mendocino CC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward Darryl Palmer (203-94, college: SC State) helped adding 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Rivas players scored in double figures. American Quincy Scates (198-89, college: TWU) responded with 40 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Jose Ortiz scored 25 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rivas moved-up to fifth place. Loser Tigres stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost.

Real Esteli forced 19 Indigenas turnovers and outrebounded them 57-33 including a 24-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Cuban Lisvan Valdez (196-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Jensen Campbell (198-98) helped adding 12 points and 10 rebounds. American center James Edmond Jr (203-91, college: Lincoln, MO) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Francisco Hertas (-82) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Esteli have a solid series of three victories in a row. No shocking result in a game in Diriangen where third ranked Cacique D. (11-5) defeated 6th ranked Leones MGA (8-7) 79-71 on Thursday. It was a great evening for forward Jeremy Agosto who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-91) helped adding 26 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit) responded with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Brazilian center Andre Coimbra (205-86, college: CMU) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Leones MGA's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cacique D. maintains third place with 11-5 record behind leader Real Esteli. Loser Leones MGA keeps the sixth position with seven games lost.
