Edmond Jr.'s double-double lands him Player of the Week award- October 21, 2021
He had a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Tigres (#9, 3-17) 83-76. Indigenas is placed at 8th position in Nicaraguan league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 15 games and recorded just three victories. Edmond Jr. turned to be Indigenas' top player in his first season with the team. James Edmond Jr. averages this season 17.5ppg and 9.4rpg. Second best performed player last round was Ronald Lawton (F) of Ingenieria. He is a forward in his first season at Ingenieria. In the last game Lawton recorded impressive 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Ingenieria lost that game 86-92 to slightly higher-ranked Rivas (11-9). This loss caused Ingenieria to drop to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 11-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Lawton is a newcomer at Ingenieria and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.6ppg (#8). His other stats are also decent: 9.2rpg and 3.7apg. Third place about best performers goes to forward Melsahn Basabe (201-PF-92) of Real Esteli (#3). Basabe showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, twelve rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Basabe's great performance Real Esteli lost 84-86 to #1 ranked Brumas. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Real Esteli needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 8 lost games. Basabe has a very solid season. In 2 games in Nicaragua he scored 24.0ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Jose Ortiz (SG) of Tigres - 32 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Timothy Simmons (195-PF-92) of Brumas - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Leon Hampton (213-C-95) of Brumas - 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Quentin Davis (199-PF) of Rivas - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists 8. BJ Glasford (196-C-95) of Rivas - 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists 9. Marco Maradiaga (G/F) of Indigenas - 23 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Martell Miller (198-F/C-96) of Brumas - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
