De la Rosa number one in Nicaragua LSB for round 28 (by Hoops Agents)

Dominican Rep. Forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-F-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Cacique D., receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 28.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 54 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed Tigres (#9, 3-18) with 25-point margin 116-91. Cacique D. maintains the 2nd position in Nicaraguan LSB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Cacique D. will need more victories to improve their 14-5 record. In the team's last game de la Rosa had a remarkable 70.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Cacique D.'s top player in his first season with the team. Xavier de la Rosa has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 29.8ppg. de la Rosa is in league's top in and averages impressive 2.9spg.

The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old American Melsahn Basabe (201-PF-92) of Real Esteli. Basabe had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 21 rebounds. Of course Real Esteli cruised to a 80-69 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Rivas (#4, 11-10). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Real Esteli consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team's 13-8 record is not bad at all. Basabe is a newcomer at Real Esteli, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Leon Hampton (213-C-95) of league's top team Brumas. Hampton scored 23 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Brumas, leading his team to a 91-85 win against the lower-ranked Leon (#6, 10-9). Brumas confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 4 lost games. Hampton has a great season in Nicaragua. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.5rpg (3rd best). He also has 2.3bpg and FGP: 59.0%. Hampton attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
