Almonte number one in Nicaragua LSB for round 31

Dominican Rep. Center Miguel Almonte (211-C-91) had an amazing evening in the last round for Leon, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 31.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Tigres (#9, 3-20) with 16-point margin 97-81. Leon maintains the 7th position in Nicaraguan LSB. Leon is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-10 record. In the team's last game Almonte had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Leon's top player in his first season with the team. Miguel Almonte has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 11.5rpg) and averages impressive 2.2bpg and 64.3% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 30-year old Dominican Rep. Xavier de la Rosa (196-F-91) of league's second-best Cacique D.. de la Rosa had a very good evening with a double-double of 40 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Cacique D. was edged by the lower-ranked Ingenieria (#6, 12-11) 102-100. Cacique D. managed to keep the same second spot in the standings. His team's 16-7 record is not bad at all. de la Rosa is a newcomer at Cacique D., but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 30.5ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 8.7rpg and 3.2apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Ronald Lawton (F) of Ingenieria (#6). Lawton showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, fifteen rebounds (!!!) and nine assists in the last round. He was a key player of Ingenieria, leading his team to a 102-100 win against the higher-ranked Cacique D. (#2, 16-7). Ingenieria needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 11 lost games. Lawton has a great season in Nicaragua. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.3ppg (8th best).
