Melsahn Basabe
30-year old forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-F-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Cacique D. and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 33.
He had the game-high 46 points adding eight rebounds and three assists for Cacique D. in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Leon (#7, 11-12) with 34-point margin 119-85. Cacique D. maintains the 2nd position in Nicaraguan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Cacique D. will need more victories to improve their 17-7 record. In the team's last game de la Rosa had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range and got seven three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He turned to be Cacique D.'s top player in his first season with the team. de la Rosa has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 31.2ppg. de la Rosa is in league's top in and averages solid 2.8spg.
Second best performed player last round was Melsahn Basabe (201-PF-92) of Real Esteli. He is American-Puerto Rican forward in his first season at Real Esteli. In the last game Basabe recorded impressive double-double of 27 points and 16 rebounds. Of course Real Esteli cruised to a 93-86 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Ingenieria (#6, 12-12). Real Esteli's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 16-8 record is not bad at all. Basabe is a newcomer at Real Esteli and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to another Cacique D.'s star - forward Jeremy Agosto (F). Agosto showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the last round. He was another key player of Cacique D., helping his team with a 119-85 easy win against the lower-ranked Leon (#7, 11-12). Cacique D. needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 17 victories and 7 lost games. Agosto has a great season in Nicaragua. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.0ppg (5th best) and assists with 9.6apg (best passer). He also has 2.3spg and FGP: 50.7%.
