LSB Round 7: Brumas are defeated by UNI Basket

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Brumas (5-3) and sixth ranked UNI Basket (3-3) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Brumas were crushed by UNI Basket on the road 79-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brumas. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican guard Brian Vazquez (190-1994) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Scott Sill (206-1992, college: Delaware St.) helped adding 8 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side Rafael Mendoza (-2001) responded with 19 points. UNI Basket moved-up to fifth place. Brumas at the other side keep the third position with three games lost. UNI Basket are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Rivas (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Brumas will have a break next round.
LSB top team - Real Esteli (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Indigenas (3-5) in Matagalpa 109-69. It was a quality performance for Puerto Rican guard Ismael Cruz (190-2001, college: Indian Hills) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 10 assists. Alonso Ortiz accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Dominican Jeffry Arias came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds for Indigenas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Real Esteli have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Indigenas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Real Esteli will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Indigenas will play against Leon (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Rivas (0-7) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Jaguares. They maintain second place with 6-0 record having 2 victories less than leader Real Esteli. Rivas lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Jaguares' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Managua Caribbean Coast.



Indigenas - Real Esteli 69-109

LSB top team - Real Esteli (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Indigenas (3-5) in Matagalpa 109-69. Real Esteli players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Indigenas' players.
