Leon - Indigenas 97-61 The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Indigenas (3-6) played at the court of eighth ranked Leon (3-5). Leon smashed Indigenas 97-61. They outrebounded Indigenas 59-35 including a 41-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Leon players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Guard Pablo Rivas orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Panamanian Adalberto Rojas (200-1986) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Leon players scored in double figures. Dominican Jeffry Arias replied with 22 points and Raul Mendoza (190-1987) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Indigenas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leon have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Indigenas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Jaguares (7-0) won against visiting Caribbean Coast (2-5) 98-88. Jaguares forced 21 Caribbean Coast turnovers. Strangely Caribbean Coast outrebounded Jaguares 53-38 including 29 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Guyanese-American center Anthony Moe (206-1990, college: Millersville) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. American center Dominic Woodson (211-1995, college: Tennessee) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds and Dominican swingman Luis Feliz (190-2002) added 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jaguares have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-0 record behind leader Real Esteli. Caribbean Coast lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Jaguares are looking forward to face league's leader Real Esteli at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caribbean Coast will play against Brumas (#4) in Jinotega and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series. Local Leones MGA (5-2) outscored 9th ranked Occidentales (1-6) 90-51 on Friday night. Leones MGA dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Occidentales' 34. They outrebounded Occidentales 45-28 including a 35-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Leones MGA looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward Jean Quezada (-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) who added 25 points, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Leones MGA players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican guard Roberto Nieves (194-1982, college: Valpo) responded with 15 points and 5 assists and guard Deikel Sanchez scored 17 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones MGA moved-up to third place. Occidentales lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Leones MGA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Occidentales will play against UNI Basket (#5) and hope to win that game.
