Brian Vazquez
Guard Deikel Sanchez (G) had a great game in the last round for Occidentales and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
He had a double-double of 38 points and 11 rebounds, while his team lost the game against UNI Basket (#5, 4-3) 76-104. Occidentales maintains the 9th position in Nicaraguan league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 7 games and recorded just one victory. In the team's last game Sanchez had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Occidentales' top player in his first season with the team. Sanchez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (8th best: 21.8ppg) and averages solid 2.4bpg and 55.6% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Brian Vazquez (190-G-1994) of UNI Basket. He is American-Puerto Rican guard in his first season at UNI Basket. In the last game Vazquez recorded impressive 34 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led UNI Basket to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Occidentales (#9, 1-7) 104-76. UNI Basket's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Vazquez is a newcomer at UNI Basket and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.2ppg (#4). He also registered 5.2 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Joel Kindred (193-SG-1991) of league's second-best Jaguares. Kindred showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, fifteen rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. Despite Kindred's great performance Jaguares lost 82-93 to #1 ranked Real Esteli. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Jaguares had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 1st lost game is hopefully really an accident. Kindred's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Kindred has a great season in Nicaragua. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.6ppg (9th best). He also has 2.1spg and FGP: 51.4%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
