Caribbean Coast - Occidentales 113-49 Seventh ranked Caribbean Coast (4-5) crushed at home 9th ranked Occidentales (1-8) by 64 points 113-49, which is the biggest margin this round on Wednesday night. Caribbean Coast dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Occidentales' 36. Caribbean Coast forced 27 Occidentales turnovers and outrebounded them 58-37 including a 37-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Caribbean Coast looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Occidentales' players. Luis Lopez Martinez fired 28 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals for the winners. American guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Caribbean Coast players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican guard Roberto Nieves (194-1982, college: Valpo) produced 22 points and center Mauricio Lopez added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caribbean Coast moved-up to sixth place. Occidentales lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked UNI Basket (4-4) 108-104. Rivas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to UNI Basket's 34. They outrebounded UNI Basket 48-22 including a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rivas shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American Quentin Davis (199, college: Mendocino CC) notched a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the effort and Cuban Yosniel Morales (196-1987) supported him with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Even 41 points (!!!) by American-Puerto Rican guard Brian Vazquez (190-1994) did not help to save the game for UNI Basket. Puerto Rican point guard Luis Rivera (180-1998) added 30 points and 9 assists for lost side. Five Rivas and four UNI Basket players scored in double figures. Rivas (1-7) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. UNI Basket at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Leones MGA was defeated at home 77-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leones MGA. Jaguares forced 22 Leones MGA turnovers. American Joel Kindred (193-1991, college: St.Augustine) scored 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Romario Ponce (180-1995) chipped in 18 points during the contest. At the losing side American forward Josmel Martinez (198, college: Broward CC) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and forward Jean Quezada (-2000) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Jaguares maintains second position with 8-1 record behind leader Real Esteli. Leones MGA at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost.
