Familia's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Jose Familia

24-year old center Jose Familia (201-C-1998) had a very impressive game in the last round for Brumas and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Caribbean Coast (#7, 5-8) 68-65. Brumas maintains the 4th position in Nicaraguan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Brumas will need more victories to improve their 10-5 record. In the team's last game Familia had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Brumas' top player in his first season with the team. Jose Familia averages this season 15.7ppg and 12.7rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Deikel Sanchez (G) of Occidentales. He is a guard in his first season at Occidentales. In the last game Sanchez recorded impressive double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Occidentales lost that game 65-78 to the higher-ranked Leones MGA (#5, 8-7). Occidentales are still at the very bottom. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Occidentales managed to get this year. Sanchez is a newcomer at Occidentales and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.7ppg (#8). He also registered 9.7 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Christian Negron (201-F-1998) of Caribbean Coast (#7). Negron scored 19 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Negron's great performance Caribbean Coast lost 65-68 to the higher-ranked Brumas (#4, 10-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Caribbean Coast not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 8 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Negron could try to bring Caribbean Coast's a little bit higher in the standings. The season just started for Negron as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
