Christian Negron
Deikel Sanchez (G) put on an amazing game in the last round for Occidentales and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The guard had a double-double of 33 points and twenty five rebounds, while his team lost the game against Leon (#6, 7-8) 78-85. Occidentales maintains the 9th position in Nicaraguan LSB. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Occidentales have already lost 14 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Sanchez had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Occidentales' top player in his first season with the team. Sanchez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 20.6ppg), rebounds (8th best: 10.6rpg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 53.8% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Puerto Rican forward Christian Negron (201-F-1998) of Caribbean Coast. Negron impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 23 rebounds. Of course Caribbean Coast cruised to a 87-75 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Jaguares (#2, 13-4). Caribbean Coast's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-8 record. Negron is a newcomer at Caribbean Coast and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was Dominican Rep. Jose Espinal (SF) of Indigenas (#8). Espinal scored 25 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). Despite Espinal's great performance Indigenas lost 71-81 to slightly lower-ranked Occidentales (#9, 3-14). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Indigenas can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Espinal has a very solid season. In 16 games in Nicaragua he scored 10.2ppg. He also has 10.4rpg and FGP: 50.8%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
