LSB Round 32: Leones MGA is defeated by Caribbean Coast in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Managua: Caribbean Coast (#4) and Leones MGA (#6). Caribbean Coast (17-10) won against visiting Leones MGA (14-13) 87-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leones MGA. Caribbean Coast made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Leones MGA turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Jorge Gonzalez who added 26 points and 7 assists during the contest. Caribbean Coast's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) responded with 38 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Caribbean Coast maintains fourth position with 17-10 record. Leones MGA at the other side keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost.
Seventh ranked Leon (11-15) crushed at home 8th ranked Indigenas (6-21) by 53 points 113-60, which is the biggest margin this round. The winners were led by Puerto Rican guard Antonio Ralat (188, college: UAB) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 rebounds and Danny Gomez supported him with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Leon's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Chris Moten (190-1989, college: LA Pierce JC) did not help to save the game for Indigenas. Leon maintains seventh position with 11-15 record. Indigenas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 21 games lost.

In the last two games of round 32 UNI Basket won against Rivas on the opponent's court 123-105. Caribbean Coast outscored Occidentales in a home game 108-58.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals by Christian Negron of Caribbean Coast.

Rivas - UNI Basket 105-123

Very expected game when 10th ranked Rivas (3-23) were defeated at home by fifth ranked UNI Basket (15-12) 123-105. UNI Basket forced 25 Rivas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. The winners were led by American-Puerto Rican guard Brian Vazquez (190-1994) who scored that evening 38 points (!!!) and Puerto Rican guard Christian Pizarro (180-1995, college: Miami Dade CC) supported him with 16 points and 12 assists. Even 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) by American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-1994, college: Lander) did not help to save the game for Rivas. Cuban Yosniel Morales (196-1987) added 13 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UNI Basket maintains fifth position with 15-12 record. Rivas lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games.

Seventh ranked Leon (11-15) crushed at home 8th ranked Indigenas (6-21) by 53 points 113-60, which is the biggest margin this round. Leon dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 22. They outrebounded Indigenas 59-36 including a 42-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. Leon players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The winners were led by Puerto Rican guard Antonio Ralat (188, college: UAB) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 rebounds and center Danny Gomez (193-1984) supported him with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Five Leon players scored in double figures. Leon's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Very predictable result in Managua where fourth ranked Caribbean Coast (17-10) smashed 9th ranked Occidentales (5-22) 108-58. Caribbean Coast dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Occidentales' 36. They outrebounded Occidentales 53-24 including a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Caribbean Coast players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Occidentales' players. The winners were led by Puerto Rican forward Christian Negron (201-1998, college: GVSU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and center Troy Humphreys (195-1990) supported him with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Five Caribbean Coast players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points by guard Jordy Allen did not help to save the game for Occidentales. Puerto Rican-American guard Robert Nieves (188-1999, college: Graceland) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Caribbean Coast maintains fourth position with 17-10 record. Occidentales lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 22 games lost.
