LSB top team - Caribbean Coast (4-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Indigenas (0-4) in Matagalpa 120-89. Caribbean Coast had a 36-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Indigenas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Puerto Rican power forward Owens Perez (206-1992) contributed with 31 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Canadian swingman Zekiah Owens (197-1998, college: AIC) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for Indigenas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caribbean Coast have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Indigenas at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Rivas.
The game in Managua supposed to be also worth to mention about. 5th ranked UNI Basket (2-2) played at the court of seventh ranked Jaguares (2-1). Jaguares smashed UNI Basket 87-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UNI Basket. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jaguares moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Leones. UNI Basket at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Brumas.
