31-year old swingman D'Asia Chambers (182-G/F-1992) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Jaguares and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
She had the game-high 32 points adding seven rebounds and three assists for Jaguares in her team's victory, helping them to edge out Leonas (#3, 1-2) 68-67. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Thanks to this victory Jaguares moved-up to the 1st position in Nicaraguan LSBF. The season is still on an early stage, but Jaguares already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Chambers had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. She turned to be Jaguares' top player in her first season with the team. Slippery Rock University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Chambers is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.7ppg), assists (5th best: 4.3apg) and averages solid 3.7spg and 47.1% from behind 3-point line.
Second best performed player last round was Shannen Peralta (F-2003) of Tipitapa. She is international forward in her first season at Tipitapa. In the last game Peralta recorded impressive double-double of 26 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Tipitapa lost that game 67-77 to Jaguares (3-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Peralta is a newcomer at Tipitapa and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#4). She also registered 15.3 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to another Jaguares' star - swingman Jessica Fairweather (180-G/F-1990). Fairweather showcased her all-around game by recording 21 points, ten rebounds and eight assists in the last round. She was another key player of Jaguares, helping her team with a 77-67 win against Tipitapa (#5, 1-3). Jaguares started extremely well this year. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game. Fairweather turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. Fairweather has a great season in Nicaragua. After only 3 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 12.7ppg (8th best), rebounds with 9.3rpg (4th best) and assists with 5.3apg (4th best).
