Barnes number one in Nicaragua LSBF for round 5 (by Hoops Agents)- September 10, 2023
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (16 points, eight rebounds and two assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Leonas (#5, 2-6) 86-73. Real Esteli maintains the 2nd position in Nicaraguan LSBF. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Real Esteli will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. Barnes turned to be Real Esteli's top player in her first season with the team. Former Johnson County Community College star has very solid stats this year. Barnes is in league's top in points (8th best: 14.3ppg) and rebounds (8th best: 7.9rpg). The second best player in last round's games was young American Jocelyn Taylor (183-G-1997) of Leonas. Taylor had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Leonas lost that game 73-86 to the higher-ranked Real Esteli (#2, 5-2). Leonas are still at the very bottom. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Leonas managed to get this year. Taylor is a newcomer at Leonas, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.0ppg (#2). She also registered 7.8 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was another Real Esteli's star - international Anahya Hodgson (SF-2005). Hodgson showcased her all-around game by recording 9 points, fourteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. She was another key player of Real Esteli, helping her team with a 86-73 easy win against the lower-ranked Leonas (#5, 2-6). Real Esteli needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 2 lost games. Hodgson has a great season in Nicaragua. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.6rpg (6th best) and assists with 1.4apg (4th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Antoinette Bannister (178-G/F-1993) of UNI - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Nahomy Alvarez (G-2004) of Jaguares - 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists 6. Nelly Rapalo (173-F-1999) of Real Esteli - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists 7. Jessica Marino (G-2000) of Leonas - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Jenny Salomon (C-1991) of Real Esteli - 10 points and 6 rebounds 9. Sofia Alfaro (F-2003) of Jaguares - 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Lean Williams (SG) of Jaguares - 12 points and 6 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
