Patterson number one in Nicaragua LSBF for round 8- September 16, 2023Center Linda Patterson (C) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Jaguares, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The player had a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds, while her team crushed Leonas (#5, 2-7) with 21-point margin 74-53. It allowed Jaguares to consolidate first place in the Nicaraguan LSBF. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Jaguares has a very solid 7-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Patterson had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for her as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Linda Patterson has solid league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 11.4rpg) and averages impressive 1.7bpg and 58.6% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was young Clenia Salazar (F-1987) of Tipitapa. Salazar had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Tipitapa cruised to a 61-49 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Real Esteli (#2, 6-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Tipitapa consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. Her team's 5-4 record is not bad at all. Salazar is well-known at Tipitapa and is a proven leader in her second season with the team. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.1ppg (#6). Her other stats are also decent: 10.7rpg and 4.0apg. Third on the list of top players last round was another Tipitapa's star - Canadian guard Tiffany Reynolds (175-G). Reynolds scored 17 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Tipitapa, helping her team with a 61-49 win against #2 ranked Real Esteli. Tipitapa needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 4 lost games. Reynolds has a very solid season. In 3 games in Nicaragua she scored 18.3ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Jocelyn Taylor (183-G-1997) of Leonas - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 5. D'Asia Chambers (182-G/F-1992) of Jaguares - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Jessica Fairweather (180-G/F-1990) of Jaguares - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists 7. Laisha Hooker (PG-2006) of Real Esteli - 8 points and 8 rebounds 8. Anahya Hodgson (SF-2005) of Real Esteli - 12 points and 11 rebounds 9. Sofia Jiron (F-1998) of Jaguares - 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Jessica Martino (175-F-2000) of Leonas - 15 points and 2 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
