Chambers' 29 points and 5 assists give her Player of the Week award- September 19, 202331-year old swingman D'Asia Chambers (182-G/F-1992) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's best team Jaguares and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
She had the game-high 29 points adding three rebounds and five assists for Jaguares in her team's victory, helping them to beat Real Esteli (#3, 6-4) 80-68. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Jaguares to consolidate first place in the Nicaraguan LSBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Jaguares has a very solid 8-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Chambers had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. She turned to be Jaguares' top player in her first season with the team. Slippery Rock University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Chambers is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.8ppg. Chambers is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 8.4rpg), assists (5th best: 4.3apg) and averages solid 3.1spg. Second best performed player last round was Janae Barnes (183-G-1995) of Real Esteli. She is American guard in her first season at Real Esteli. In the last game Barnes recorded impressive 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Real Esteli lost that game 68-80 to slightly higher-ranked Jaguares (#1, 8-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Real Esteli still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Barnes is a newcomer at Real Esteli and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to forward Clenia Salazar (F-1987) of league's second-best Tipitapa. Salazar showcased her all-around game by recording 7 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and seven assists in the last round. She was a key player of Tipitapa, leading her team to a 52-29 easy win against the lower-ranked UNI (#5, 2-8). Tipitapa needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 4 lost games. Salazar has a great season in Nicaragua. After only 9 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.9ppg (7th best), rebounds with 11.0rpg (3rd best) and assists with 4.4apg (4th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Tiffany Reynolds (175-G) of Tipitapa - 22 points and 16 rebounds 5. Jessica Fairweather (180-G/F-1990) of Jaguares - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists 6. Nelly Rapalo (173-F-1999) of Real Esteli - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists 7. Linda Patterson (C) of Jaguares - 10 points and 12 rebounds 8. Nahomy Castillo (165-PG-2007) of UNI - 12 points and 11 rebounds 9. Shaneel Antonio (F-2005) of Tipitapa - 6 points and 9 rebounds 10. Jenny Salomon (C-1991) of Real Esteli - 6 points and 6 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
