Barnes number one in Nicaragua LSBF for round 11- September 22, 2023
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (25 points, nine rebounds) to her team's victory, helping them to crush UNI (#5, 2-9) with 23-point margin 90-67. Real Esteli maintains the 3rd position in Nicaraguan LSBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Real Esteli will need more victories to improve their 7-4 record. In the team's last game Barnes had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. She turned to be Real Esteli's top player in her first season with the team. Former Johnson County Community College star has very solid stats this year. Barnes is in league's top in points (9th best: 14.2ppg), rebounds (9th best: 7.8rpg) and averages impressive 2.2spg. The second best player in last round's games was another Real Esteli's star - young Honduran Nelly Rapalo (173-F-1999). Rapalo had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 15 assists. Of course together with Barnes she helped Real Esteli with another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked UNI (#5, 2-9) 90-67. Real Esteli's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. Her team's 7-4 record is not bad at all. Rapalo is a newcomer at Real Esteli, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.9ppg (#8). Her other stats are also decent: 7.0rpg and 7.5apg. Third on the list of top players last round was Canadian guard Tiffany Reynolds (175-G) of league's second-best Tipitapa. Reynolds showcased her all-around game by recording 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the last round. She was a key player of Tipitapa, leading her team to a 83-40 easy win against #4 ranked Leonas in a game of the week. Tipitapa needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 4 lost games. Reynolds has a great season in Nicaragua. After only 6 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.3ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 9.7rpg (6th best) and assists with 3.2apg (8th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Clenia Salazar (F-1987) of Tipitapa - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Ankara Reichele (PG) of UNI - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Shaneel Antonio (F-2005) of Tipitapa - 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Shannen Peralta (F-2003) of Tipitapa - 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Laisha Hooker (PG-2006) of Real Esteli - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Nahomy Castillo (165-PG-2007) of UNI - 9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Jessica Martino (175-F-2000) of Leonas - 14 points and 5 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
