Best players of Nicaraguan LSBF round 12 (by Hoops Agents)- September 24, 2023
The 30-year old swingman had the game-high 36 points adding seven rebounds and seven assists for UNI as her team lost the game against Jaguares (#1, 9-3) 63-71. UNI maintains the 5th position in Nicaraguan LSBF. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. UNI have already lost 10 games and recorded just two victories. Bannister turned to be UNI's top player in her first season with the team. East Carolina University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bannister is in league's top in points (4th best: 18.5ppg), assists (2nd best: 6.6apg) and averages solid 3.4spg. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Jessica Martino (175-F-2000) of Leonas. Martino impressed basketball fans with 13 points and 3 rebounds. Bad luck as Leonas lost that game 52-84 to slightly higher-ranked Real Esteli (#2, 8-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Leonas still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Leonas managed to get this year. Martino is a newcomer at Leonas and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.7ppg (#6). She also registered 7.0 boards per game. The third best performed player last round was Lean Williams (SG) of top-ranked Jaguares. Williams scored 11 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Jaguares, leading her team to a 71-63 win against the lower-ranked UNI (#5, 2-10). Jaguares confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 3 lost games. Williams has a very solid season. In 12 games in Nicaragua she scored 4.0ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4.
