Salazar's double-double lands her Player of the Week award- September 26, 202336-year old forward Clenia Salazar (F-1987) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Tipitapa and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 13.
She had a double-double of 33 points and 21 rebounds, while her team crushed Jaguares (9-4) with 23-point margin 84-61. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Tipitapa to take over top position in the Nicaraguan LSBF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tipitapa has a very solid 9-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Salazar had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It's her second year at Tipitapa and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Salazar has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.8ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.7rpg), assists (4th best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 2.5spg. Second best performed player last round was Antoinette Bannister (178-G/F-1993) of UNI. She is Jamaican swingman in her first season at UNI. In the last game Bannister recorded impressive double-double of 24 points and 10 assists. Bad luck as UNI was edged by slightly higher-ranked Leonas (#4, 4-9) 58-55. UNI are still at the very bottom. 11 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories UNI managed to get this year. Bannister is a newcomer at UNI and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.9ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 5.3rpg and 6.9apg. Third place about best performers goes to guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-G-1997) of Leonas (#4). Taylor showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, sixteen rebounds (!!!) and nine assists in the last round. She was a key player of Leonas, leading her team to a 58-55 win against slightly lower-ranked UNI (#5, 2-11). The chances of Leonas not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 9 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Taylor could try to bring Leonas' a little bit higher in the standings. Taylor has individually a great season in Nicaragua. After 13 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.2ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 8.3rpg (8th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. D'Asia Chambers (182-G/F-1992) of Jaguares - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Jessica Martino (175-F-2000) of Leonas - 21 points and 11 rebounds 6. Shaneel Antonio (F-2005) of Tipitapa - 11 points and 3 rebounds 7. Brittany Arellano (SG-2002) of Tipitapa - 12 points and 3 rebounds 8. Shannen Peralta (F-2003) of Tipitapa - 8 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Jessica Fairweather (180-G/F-1990) of Jaguares - 16 points and 8 rebounds 10. Lean Williams (SG) of Jaguares - 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
