LSBF Round 15 (Regular Season): Jaguares are upset by UNI

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game between second ranked Jaguares (9-5) and fifth ranked UNI (3-12) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Jaguares were defeated by UNI in a tough game in Managua 60-65. The best player for the winners was Jamaican swingman Antoinette Bannister (178-1993, college: ECU) who scored 32 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). point guard Nahomy Castillo (165-2007) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Linda Patterson who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Jaguares' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UNI maintains fifth place with 3-12 record. Jaguares at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. UNI will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Jaguares will play against Leonas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a good game for the former international Anahya Hodgson (-2005) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds. Janae Barnes contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-1997, college: SEMO) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for Leonas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Esteli have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Tipitapa. Leonas at the other side keep the fourth place with 11 games lost. Real Esteli will play against league's second-placed Tipitapa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leonas will play against Jaguares and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American guard Janae Barnes (183-1995, college: Johnson CCC) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Real Esteli players scored in double figures. American guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-1997, college: SEMO) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Jessica Martino (175-2000, college: Delaware St.) added 23 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Leonas.
