Best players of Nicaraguan LSBF round 15- October 2, 2023
The 30-year old swingman had the game-high 32 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for UNI in her team's victory, helping them to beat Jaguares (#3, 9-6) 65-60. UNI maintains the 5th position in Nicaraguan LSBF. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. UNI have already lost 12 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Bannister had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. She turned to be UNI's top player in her first season with the team. East Carolina University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bannister is league's best scorer averaging so far 20.6ppg. Bannister is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 6.6apg) and averages solid 3.3spg. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-G-1997) of Leonas. Taylor impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Leonas lost that game 69-77 to slightly higher-ranked Real Esteli (#2, 10-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Leonas still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-11 record. Taylor is a newcomer at Leonas and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.7ppg (#2). She also registered 8.9 boards per game. The third best performed player last round was Linda Patterson (C) of Jaguares (#3). Patterson scored 20 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Patterson's great performance Jaguares lost 60-65 to slightly lower-ranked UNI (#5, 3-12). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Jaguares needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 6 lost games. Patterson has a great season in Nicaragua. After 14 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.6rpg (4th best). She also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 55.8%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Jessica Martino (175-F-2000) of Leonas - 23 points and 12 rebounds 5. Anahya Hodgson (SF-2005) of Real Esteli - 17 points, 20 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Janae Barnes (183-G-1995) of Real Esteli - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Sofia Jiron (F-1998) of Jaguares - 13 points and 2 assists 8. Guisselle Rodriguez (C-1994) of Real Esteli - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Nelly Rapalo (173-F-1999) of Real Esteli - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists 10. Nahomy Castillo (165-PG-2007) of UNI - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
